What is the NCLEX RN Exam?

The NCLEX-RN (National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses) is a comprehensive exam required for nursing licensure in the United States and Canada. Our course aligns with the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) standards and covers critical content areas including:

NCLEX-RN Exam Breakdown

The NCLEX-RN exam uses a Computer Adaptive Testing (CAT) format, adjusting the difficulty of questions based on your performance. The exam covers:

  • Question Range: 75 to 145 questions
  • Time Limit: 5 hours, including breaks
  • Question Types: Multiple-choice, multiple-response, fill-in-the-blank, hot spots, drag-and-drop, and ordered response questions
  • Focus Areas: Four major categories: Safe and Effective Care, Health Promotion, Psychosocial Integrity, and Physiological Integrity

Passing the NCLEX-RN indicates a high level of competence in nursing care and is necessary to practice as a registered nurse in the U.S. and Canada.
